Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Several of my media products have either followed developed or challenged in some the ways the conventions of a real media product. This has been done to enable the conventions to function together to ensure a efficient and realistic media product.  All the elements that I have included in several of my media products have all been used in different media platforms of some sort or another. To combat against this i have tried to develop every convention that I have used so that they combine together to make a recognisable and established product.

Digipak

Before i started creating my digipak i already had a slight idea of what i wanted to do. But after looking further into digipaks as a whole i drew some inspiration from the following established media products in the form of a digipak.

This was one of the first digipaks i looked at. It has a very simplistic feel about it, and therefore i believe it looks slick and sharp at the same time. This straight away was one of my main objectives with the digipak.

After looking at this particular album cover from Pink Floyd. I drew inspiration from the solid black background colour and the contrast between the very bright colours along with the dark dull background. I believe that this works extremely well due to the fact that i think it gives it some kind of an edgy feel about it. After looking at this more closely i decided that i wanted to incorporate some of the features and conventions that this album cover used in a very efficient manor and maximised effects that these conventions could create.

This is the latest album from the arctic monkeys. The dimensions for the cover are that of a very simple feel to it. As it is made up of a very dark background along with an image that is centralised and is the main focal point of the album cover. The main image has the connotations of a sound beat of a song. Going onto the marketing campaign as a whole they use continuity due to the fact that the TV advert consists of the album cover with the main image moving like a sound beat of a song.
